Have you ever wondered what it takes to succeed? It doesn’t matter what it is. It could be a certain task at home, work, or even a new hobby you recently learned.

Whatever it may be, Doctor Leaf suggests you may need to change your mindset.

In her new book, she talks about the different mindsets of successful people!

Brief Thoughts

Let me first say, do not buy this in a digital format.  I love my Kindle, I really do! However, for a book like this where you need to see graphs/figures and you can’t simply look back at the graph (due to the digital limitation) makes the reading experience poor. Due to this, I did not enjoy this book as much as I probably would have if I had a hard copy.

Caroline Leaf offers very helpful and practical advice. In this book, she doesn’t reference much scripture (I only recall her mentioning Scripture once). This is not a bad thing, but I make a comment of it because in her other books that I read she uses Scripture more. Again, I don’t view this as a negative thing. After she goes through the mindsets (my favorite part of the book), she goes deep into the science–Very helpful, but it was difficult to follow in my pre-release digital copy.

While Doctor Leaf is a brain expert, she doesn’t just prescribe “happy thoughts.” She even argues happy thinking doesn’t help unless you believe what is said (essentially, your mind knows when you are lying). She says the happy thinking is a short term solution but does not achieve the results we are aiming for.

At the end of every chapter, she summarizes what she wrote. I found this to be very helpful.

I wish she would have included her full Gift Profile assessment; which, sounds like is included in her other book (The Perfect You). The Gift Profile is designed to help you understand your own way of thinking.

However, as far as Mindsets are concerned and achieving a brief understanding of how you think, pick this up (just make sure it is a hard copy). I do believe this book could be helpful to many.

All in all, I would give this book a 3/5 star (I received a pre-release copy of Think,Learn, and Succeed. The review is based on a pre-release copy and is not the finished work).
